Academic leadership

Academic leadership is a skill that one acquires with experience, engagement, and the skill to navigate challenges. Holding three leadership positions at two renowned international universities, Qatar University and Durham University, enabled me to expand my knowledge beyond the classroom and engage with both academic and administrative personnel. These positions have expanded my understanding of institutional governance, effective leadership, and strategic decision-making. Effective academic leadership requires the ability to lead a diverse community of faculty, staff, and students while responding to rapidly evolving conditions. During my time in these positions, I faced economic crises, global pandemics, and an accelerated digital transformation. I maintained academic excellence at my institutions while fostering a productive academic environment.

Media Appearance

As an academic with a trilingual background, specialised and expert in Middle East politics and security, I understand the great importance of sharing my research, knowledge, and expertise through media and social media appearances. While scholarly interactions and publications are essential, they often reach a limited audience. Integrating multiple forms of knowledge transfer, both traditional and modern, is critical to reaching a wider audience with diverse backgrounds, age brackets, and locations, fostering public understanding and a higher level of academic dialogue. By combining academia and media, research can be more effective, contributing to discussions and transforming public discourse.
